A Message From the Principal

Posted on 04th Jun 2020 in

Over the last two days there have been comments published on social media regarding racist behaviour towards pupils.  This is an issue I take very seriously and would urge anyone with experience of this now or in the past to get in touch with me directly so I can investigate thoroughly.  No report will be ignored, nothing will be glossed over and we will not be complacent.  One racist incident in a school is one too many.  I will not tolerate this kind of behaviour in our Schools and strong action will be taken where any fault is found.

We understand some pupils may not be comfortable raising these matters directly with the Schools but I would urge them to contact a third party reporting service such as Edinburgh & Lothians Regional Equality Council (0131 556 044 or www.elrec.org.uk).  We are in touch with ELREC and hope to agree a partnership with them so we are at the forefront of tackling these issues.

Although we have a strong record of tackling and teaching issues of race and equality, helping pupils and teachers create a better community and, indeed, a better world, there is always more we can do.  I would ask any pupils who might have an idea on how we can do more to please get in touch with me personally so I can take this forward.

Mrs Linda Moule, Principal of ESMS
