Before moving into distilling, James had been working in consultancy in London, doing design-based projects for multinationals.  He had graduated from the Glasgow School of Art with a degree in Product Design after leaving ESMS.  In 2015, after taking a Masters in Brewing and Distilling at Heriot Watt, James founded his own distillery, Electric Spirit Company.  Based in Leith, James created the brand, designed the packaging and distils the gin, as well as delivering much of it to local hostelries as well!

A real one man operation, James has recently moved into larger premises to enable him to keep up with demand for his signature Achroous gin.  With short production runs, James' gins are in high demand.  He has enjoyed recent success (September 2018) in two different ways. Firstly his signature gin Achroous was named in a gin ratings book by industry expert Ian Buxton as one of 101 Gins to Try Before You Die.  Then just a few days later, James won the Excellence in Branding award at the Scottish Gin Awards!

For a young and small company, James is achieveing extraordinary success and we wish him all the best for future success!
